Whenever I get overwhelmed I reread Simple Living by native American Franciscan Nun, Jose Hobday. This book has such a simple but effective way of taking life down to what we really need in a culture that is bombarded with commercialism.
One nugget I was reminded of yet again recently is on page 45. “Daddy used to say to us when we were little, ‘Try many things, find something you love to do. When you find something you love to do, figure out a way to make a living at it. Don’t start the other way around, trying to figure out how to make a living. You’ll never be happy. Try to learn to take less money and be more satisfied with loving what you do.”
