Have you ever wondered why this world is in such constant turmoil?
It’s because there is a continual heated spiritual warfare going on all around us. Its obvious we can’t see this war physically, but if we look closely it is played out in the choices people make, as well as their thoughts and actions. What are the underpinnings of this war?
Let me explain
God created us with free will, the ability to choose for good or for bad. God never wants to force us into a decision. He wants our love only if it’s given freely or we may go our own way without him.

He also used the same free will formula when he created the angels. The result was Lucifer, whose pride grew to the point that he challenged God’s authority. Lucifer chose to rise against God and oppose everything God stood for. He was very persuasive in his quest, because one third of heaven’s angels sided with him.
So, what is the prize?
The prize is what God treasures above all things, you and me.
What is the difference between the two sides?
God wants us in a relationship that is based on love, a love given freely. Lucifer wants us by any means necessary. You may ask, why does God allow Lucifer and his followers to continue? Lucifer provides an alternative to God’s plan. We don’t have to believe in God or Lucifer to be in the throws of the battle. Lucifer doesn’t care. HE WINS BY DEFAULT.
What do I mean by this?
Lucifer’s goal is to lure us into anything that separates us from God. And the lure can be very subtle, like keeping us continually busy until our time here on earth is spent. If we fail to find God and his forgiveness through Jesus in our lifetime we are lost to God, and Lucifer will claim his prize – for eternity.
Yes, we need to support ourselves in this world and it is good to enjoy the things God has given us. But don’t let the things of this world be the end goal. Diligently search for God. He is patiently waiting for you.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 6:12
